Inspired by Vermeer’s ‘‘Girl with the pearl earring’’, I had done a self portrait photoshoot back in 2020. In 2025, I found the picture again and started thinking about drawing it in a modern way. The title was inspired by the quote “shiny and chrome’’ from Mad Maxx. The piece represents how we can take an old idea, an old inspiration and turn it into something new and modern.
